Some how I knew this was coming, with all the sickness, most of my family has been fighting a nasty virus and today I got more bad news from up north, My late husband's father Gary has both legs blocked, his heart isn't good and it looks like he is headed for amputation. Those who know me, know I am not a big fan of nursing homes..I believe strongly about family taking care of family.
I know Gary loves his old homestead but after his surgery, he'll be heading to a nursing home for two to three weeks, it upsets me so much, but I can't do anything other than pray he receives better care.
While I do applaud those who sacrifice their time to help out at nursing homes and for some people it is the only alternative, but for me, the quality of life seems to improve for a little while longer when people you love are around to look after you.
Schizz, I know went back home to care for his folks and I am almost certain without a doubt that being home with his parents meant so much to them and strengthened their hearts as well as his dear family members. After all, he was their son, he is their brother, dad and Uncle. It almost brings me to tears thinking about that kind of love . My mom was that way with her mother when she was so sick. It is cases like these, that you just don't hear too much about, but need to be mentioned with great affection.
It amazes me just how much the presence ,the touch and the smile of loved ones can do!
