A Small Triumph

Since I started working, I have worried about my daughter eating what she is supposed to and not skipping anything on her meal plan.  I get worn-out easily from working sometimes for four to eight hours I am constantly moving, I never sit, I really feel my age.
Kroger colors are Navy Blue and Black.  On promotional days lately, red and black.
I work in the produce department, like I mentioned, I cut fruit and my speed is coming up, so I was happy about that. I spend most of my day in the back in the the prep-room, so I wear a black apron and a black sweater to keep me warm.  I work with very nice people who are patient with me, even though I may ask  the same question a hundred times.  I am the fourth oldest in the department.  I really like produce though except for well..Salad Bar.
One of the other tasks I perform is putting out and maintaining the salad bar.  At first I wasn't too crazy about it.  I always want to make sure it is safe, clean and "Fresh Looking."  I was so pleased that I got a compliment on it.  I thought  "I must be doing right."
I upgraded my shoe wear to black sneakers, they aren't your high-tech athletic shoes like Nike, they are Dr. Schol's .  They work or as they like to say in the produce department "Its All Good."
Anyway, you would think that finding  shoes in wide-width would be easy for a lady, gosh, think again. It took me a couple hours just to find the Schol's.   Two curses, I guess for me, being short (Wearing-Off) and wide feet.(Sigh)  My daughter gets a smirk out of me sometimes and really enjoys mom working at Krogers.
I wear a hair-net and pull my hair back.   I drop the kids off at their grandparents and other times they come and pick them up for church, since I work a lot of Sundays.   I get some strange looks and my dad chuckled at me and said "You would make a good Amish lady".

I took my Ford over to my brother's to have the heater hose fixed.  When the kids and I went, I had to make sure that my daughter took her Ensure and granola bar with her so she won't miss the time to eat it.   My mom still worries too if my daughter is eating enough and said she saw a show of Dr. Phil about eating disorders.   I myself didn't see the program but it sounded really frightening.  The daughter in this story was twenty-one and battled anorexia, suffered a stroke and now her mother has to care for her like an infant.

I have to keep reminding my daughter that her heart is a muscle and starving yourself turns the body to gather its nutrients from the muscle in the body.  She hears it constantly from everyone around her. So its always said and that is ok.  It will always be said until it sinks in.  The last doctor's appointment, her doctor said it was ok for her uncle to help train her for track, but for just fifteen minutes and she has to eat a "Cliff Bar" afterwards.

I have been amazed that my daughter is eating the "Cliff Bars" and this past Sunday she ate a potato along with the other items she has to eat for her grandma.  A small triumph, I hope will help win the war against this awful disorder.  Its difficult at times when you hear of stories like the one on Dr. Phil.  I have to remember to find good in life and smile when I can, even at the small things.  Have faith and know God is in control because He knows best.  I am thankful for all of those around me who give me words of encouragement. I know I may not always say it, but I am grateful for all of you out there, thank you!
